Wasteland - The Spoony One

Description

You know...I brainstormed a lot with this fan art...going from Skyrim's Thieves' Guild (because of Tandem the Spoony) to the Ultima game reviews...to how Spoony acts in relation to the other reviewers. He has his friends he opens up to, but over all...he strikes me as a bit of a lone wolf. The sort of guy who you don't start a conversation with, so much as he starts one with you. (This is also why I haven't sent him a friend's request on Facebook despite the fact Facebook keeps recommending him to me.)

That brings me to a kinda sorta big decision in the Wasteland fan arts with the back story I have for it to overall shape the feel of the world. While Doctor Insano was going to be what I made the plot revolve around, in my opinion, Insano had to be dead to make for a better story. And how to show that than his deteriorating skull being used as a mask by a wanderer.

I should also add that I went through several revisions until I was happy with it...probably because I feel like I owe Spoony a huge apology for first making the Lord of the Dance joke, and that a friend of mine has abused the hell out of it on anything Spoony related. Sorry Noah, I didn't intend to create a troll. :/

Onwards to the story snippet.

----

A mechanical door hissed open and a lone figure walked out into a hallway.

He stopped for a moment, taking in his surroundings.

He looked at the floor, and staring back at him was his own reflection. He glanced at the walls, and they were made of opaque glass on top of whitewashed walls, each bearing a little room placard for the locked stainless steel doors by them.

Everything looked the same...it was going to be a long night before he found what he was looking for.

What was he looking for? It wasn't clear...but he was tearing through the rooms like his life depended on it.

As he traveled from room to room, he didn't realize that these soul-less rooms contained concealed security cameras...each observing his entry. Each relaying their images to a room filled with monitors.

On one side of the monitors, a thief trying to find a fragment of the past. On the other side of the monitors, a grin.

...unless, of course, he's not that kind of thief.
